The Isuikwuato Agriculture Revolution Programme (ISAREP) is a community-driven initiative launched by the Isuikwuato Consultative Forum (ICF) to tackle hunger, poverty, and unemployment in Isuikwuato, Abia State, Nigeria. Through revolutionary agricultural development, ISAREP aims to transform Isuikwuato into a thriving commercial and industrial hub for agribusiness and value chain within a ten years period.
Isuikwuato is grappling with significant challenges like widespread hunger, poverty, dwindling infrastructural development, and limited and sustainable economic opportunities. The current reliance of the youths on unsustainable activities like "Okada riding", drinking joints, petty trading, and emigration further exacerbates these issues. ISAREP seeks to address these challenges by leveraging the community's fertile land and favorable weather conditions to unlock agricultural potential.
To make Isuikwuato a food-secure, economically empowered, commercial and industrially vibrant community.
Mobilize and empower the Isuikwuato community to revitalize fallow lands; cultivate safe, improved and high-yielding cashcrops; and establish Isuikwuato as a reliable source of at least three key agricultural products, fostering commerce and potentially attracting industry through the agricultural value chain.
Our target is to cultivate in the next 3 years over 700 hectares of our fallow land comprising of 200 hectares for arable farms (cassava, yam, potatoes, etc.) and 500 hectares for economic trees plantations hosting a minimum of 2 million oil palm trees alongside other valuable species of economic trees like ukwa, akilu, ugba, bananas, plantain, oranges, etc.
a) Mobilizing and organizing community members.
b) Educating and enlightening them for appreciation of the opportunities in agriculture to generate interest and passion.
c) Motivating community people to identify fallow lands and opportunities to collaborate with owners and cultivate them.
d) Training and equipping farmers with agricultural best practices.
e) Providing ready farmers with safe species of high-yielding cash crop seeds and improved seedlings for planting.
f) Providing ready farmers with safe organic fertilizers for improved yields that do not endanger our health and environment.
g) Supporting the farmers to plant and nurture the crops and supervising compliance to the guidelines
